Seattle Seahawks: 3 Bold predictions vs. Rams, Week 5
By Samuel Teets
The Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams are both 3-1. With the Rams coming off of a loss, this is the time for Seattle to strike.
The Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams are both 3-1 and have the division crown and a first-round playoff bye on their minds. The Seahawks and Rams had two great clashes last year that both ended in victory for Los Angeles. However, the two games were decided by a combined seven points. With the Rams coming off of a humbling loss, the Seahawks are looking to strike down their division rival.
While the Thursday night matchup between Los Angeles and Seattle will be one of the week’s best games, it isn’t for the division crown. The San Francisco 49ers, of all teams, currently sit atop the NFC West as the only undefeated team remaining in the NFC. Coming off their bye week, the 49ers will face the Cleveland Browns on Monday Night Football.
Until we see the outcome of the Monday night match, Los Angeles and Seattle will be battling for second place in the division. Seattle currently holds the tiebreaker over the Rams thanks to their divisional win against the Arizona Cardinals last week. However, Thursday’s matchup has the potential to shake up the NFL’s power rankings.
The Seahawks will run into a rough patch of their season after facing the Rams. In Week 6, they will travel to Cleveland to take on the Browns. While Cleveland looked lost through the first two weeks of the season, they almost beat the Rams in Week 3 and then crushed the Baltimore Ravens last week. The Browns are an up and down team that could prove formidable.
In Week 7, the Ravens will travel to face the Seahawks. Baltimore is coming off of back to back losses, but they gave Kansas City all Patrick Mahomes could handle in Week 3. With Lamar Jackson looking like a new man this year, the Ravens aren’t a team to be overlooked.
Getting a win against the Rams this week would prepare the Seahawks for two potentially tough games against AFC North teams. It would also put pressure on the 49ers to not falter, especially considering the tiebreaker implications of a divisional win.
