3. Seahawks force four Goff turnovers

Seattle’s defense is middling at best. While they are only allowing 319 yards per game, the eighth fewest in the NFL, the team has faced two teams with backup quarterbacks and one with a rookie. The team’s interception and sack totals are more telling. Seattle is tied for 19th in interceptions and tied for 13th in sacks.

While Seattle’s defense hasn’t been terrorizing opponents, Jared Goff has been very generous this year. He’s been handing out interceptions like candy on Halloween. He’s currently tied for the league lead in interceptions thrown with six. Goff has also fumbled four times and lost three of those loose balls. With how clumsy Goff has been, Seattle’s defense has a real chance to set the offense up for success.

Against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week, Goff threw three interceptions and lost a fumble. He’s fumbled once in every game this season and has thrown five interceptions in the last two weeks. Since the bye week last year, Goff has looked shaky. For some reason, he hasn’t been able to return to his early 2018 season form.

Coming off an embarrassing loss to Tampa Bay, perhaps his confidence will still be shaking on Thursday. While the Seahawks aren’t tremendous on defense, they are opportunistic. If Goff comes in and plays like he did last week, Seattle will capitalize.
