Minnesota Vikings: 3 Players that must shine vs. Giants in Week 5
Before the Minnesota Vikings take on the New York Giants in Week 5 in New York, here are three players that must shine in the game for the Vikings.
With four weeks of the 2019 NFL regular season officially in the books, one of the more intriguing teams and storylines from around the league include the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings have kicked off the season with a very up-and-down start to the campaign while sitting a the .500 mark on the year coming into the Week 5 slate of games this weekend.
Minnesota is coming off of a rather disappointing performance against the Chicago Bears last Sunday in Week 4, being outmatched for nearly the entirety of the game in a crucial early-season contest against an NFC North division opponent.
The Vikings dropped to the Bears 16-6 in a divisional showdown that was actually closer in score than what was appearing on the field in Chicago on Sunday evening. Minnesota fell behind Chicago early on in the loss, a defeat that resulted in them moving to a winless 0-2 on the year outside of US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
The Vikings allowed the Bears to get out to a 7-0 lead after the first quarter of action in Week 4, trailing 10-0 going into the half while the offense struggled mightily. Minnesota ended up scoring once in the second half, but it wasn’t nearly enough to climb back into the game on the road.
With the loss, Minnesota moved down to 2-2 on the season entering a Week 5 matchup against the New York Giants, dropped to fourth place in the NFC North standings behind the Detroit Lions (2-1-1 overall), Bears (3-1) and Green Bay Packers (3-1) in the division.
The Vikings will try to get back on track this weekend when they hit the road once again to face off against the Giants on Sunday afternoon in New York.
The Bears, on the other hand, looked strong in every facet of the game against the Vikings in the Week 4 victory, improving to 3-1 while sitting in a tie for first place with the Packers atop the NFC North division.
Looking ahead to Week 5, Minnesota will face a team in the Giants that are also 2-2 on the year but have won their last two contests coming into the fifth week of the regular season. New York breezed by the Washington Redskins 24-3 last Sunday in New York to secure its second win in a row.
Prior to Minnesota heading into New York to face the Giants in Week 5 while looking to grab its first road win of the year and move back above the .500 mark on the season, let’s dive into three players that must step up and shine for the Vikings in the NFC showdown.
