Who Wants a Quarterback?

Let’s play a game. It’s four weeks into the season, and some teams are looking great while others are hoping the offseason can’t come soon enough. Most of it has to do with each team’s respective quarterbacks. While there are obviously teams content with their quarterback situations, others might already be thinking about who is next to command the offense.

I know the offseason is far, far away but I wanted to organize teams based on the likelihood that they’ll be looking at quarterbacks after the season. Keep in mind these are all projection-based and take into account how the teams likely feel, not how I feel.

(For example, if it were up to me, the Broncos would be looking at another quarterback early, but something tells me general manager John Elway is still hopeful about Drew Lock.)

Likely Looking at QBs in the First-Round – In no particular order, these teams have or may have a gaping hole at the position and could be well-equipped to select a quarterback high in the Draft:

  • Dolphins; Bengals; Redskins; Buccaneers

Could Look at QBs Early – These teams might be fine with their current situation now, but further issues could arise about their quarterback’s upside or longevity:

  • Steelers; Titans; Jaguars; Raiders; Chargers; Broncos; Bears; Vikings; Panthers

Probably Won’t Look at QBs – These teams have younger, less proven quarterbacks who have probably convinced their respective teams to wait another year or two before considering the quarterback’s future:

  • Bills; Jets; Browns; Ravens; Colts; Giants; 49ers; Cardinals

Not Even Thinking About QBs – Barring unforeseen circumstances, these teams believe they’re set and will likely spend capital on other positions:

  • Patriots; Texans; Chiefs; Cowboys; Eagles; Packers; Lions; Saints; Falcons; Rams; Seahawks
