Dud: Damien Williams

After missing two full weeks of action, Andy Reid and the Chiefs were certainly looking forward to getting Damien Williams back in the fold. Despite the platoon that they’d been working with and the success they’d had there, Williams is the unquestioned lead running back of the group. To make matters seem more promising, Williams also burned the Colts for 150 total yards in the Divisional Round of the playoffs last year.

Williams, however, did no such thing against Indianapolis on Sunday night. Partially due to the ineffectiveness of the offensive line and partially just playing poorly, Williams managed only 23 yards on nine carries while catching three passes for 15 yards. While he was supposed to be another weapon for the offense, he got a featured role and did next to nothing with it.

Dud: Chiefs offensive line

In the four games prior to Sunday Night Football, the Kansas City Chiefs offensive line had only allowed Patrick Mahomes to be sacked three times on the season. Part of that is due to Mahomes’ ability to escape pressure but it credit was also due to the performance that the line put forth early in the season. No credit is due, however, to them for how they matched up against the Colts.

Kansas City allowed Mahomes to be sacked four times against Indianapolis in Week 5 and that doesn’t nearly quantify how often the Chiefs quarterback was under pressure. Nursing a minor ankle injury, it seemed as if the Mahomes was met with a Colts defender before he could get his eyes downfield on most plays. It was an abysmal performance by the O-line that not even Mahomes and Andy Reid could make the most of.
