Atlanta Falcons: Studs and duds vs. Texans in Week 5

With the Atlanta Falcons falling to the Houston Texans in Week 5 on Sunday, here are three studs and duds from the loss for the Falcons.

The Atlanta Falcons hit the road in Week 5 of the 2019 NFL regular season on Sunday afternoon, facing off against a tough AFC opponent with one of the top offenses in the league. While heading to Houston to square up against the Houston Texans over the weekend, Atlanta’s struggles to begin the year continued as they once again fell on the road.

In the game, the Falcons certainly got their dose of the Texans’ high-powered offensive unit, allowing Houston to go off for over 50 points in a high-scoring 53-32 loss at NRG Stadium.

Atlanta got off to a positive start in the contest, with both teams knotted up at 7-7 after one quarter and the Falcons ending up carrying a 17-16 advantage into halftime. In the second half, however, Houston absolutely took the game over and blew things out of reach In a hurry against Atlanta.

The Texans scored a total of 37 points in the second half, including 17 points in the third quarter and 20 in the fourth quarter, while allowing the Falcons to tally just 15 points in the fourth quarter to come bring the game to a 53-32 final score.

With the loss, Atlanta’s early-season slump continued while it dropped to a disappointing 1-4 overall on the year. The Falcons have now lost three games in a row moving into Week 6 next weekend.

Atlanta will remain on the road next Sunday with the hopes of getting things back on track when It takes on the Arizona Cardinals at 4:05 p.m. ET in Arizona. So far this season, the Falcons are 0-2 on the road while still searching for their first win away from Atlanta in 2019.

With the win, Houston improved back above the .500 mark while moving to 3-2 overall on the year. The Texans get a tough contest next Sunday on the road, traveling to take on the Kansas City Chiefs at noon on Sunday in Kansas City.

Already in Week 6 of the season this weekend, Atlanta will need to turn things around quickly if it wants to eventually get itself in the postseason picture later on in the regular season. That turnaround will have to start this coming Sunday in Arizona.
