Need a fantasy football sleeper to pick up on the waiver wire for NFL Week 6? These are the top six players you should be targeting for your roster.

It’s time we had a serious talk about the term “sleeper” as it relates to fantasy football. The term sleeper, by its very nature, refers to a player who is being “slept on” — usually mistakenly so — by the public at large.

What a sleeper is not is a player who’s projected in the upper echelon at their position on any given week. It’s not really that hard to predict a player averaging 24.4 fantasy points per game is going to have a great week against a horrible defense. Right? That’s easy.

True sleepers are much more difficult to identify but are also much more rewarding should you manage to pluck one straight out of waiver wire purgatory. They may take a bit to get going and really start to blossom, but if you’re lucky, you’ll already have them on your roster as the rest of your league is frantically typing their name into the free agent search bar.

As such, effectively targeting these sleepers before they break out and the public learns all about them is the name of the game and could prove crucial to your success playing regular or even daily fantasy football this year.

Obviously you’re not going to need to ever roster any of the players listed here if your team is doing really well or you’re straight-up stacked overall. These six sleepers will be most beneficial to those that are either in crazy-deep leagues, having some emergency difficulties due to bye week headaches and/or injuries, or your overall waiver wire pickup situation has been super ineffective, unlucky or just downright terrible.

But hey, that’s okay, that’s why we’re here. Because if your league’s waiver wire situation is as bare-bones and dicey as the Miami Dolphins hopes of making the playoffs this year then take a seat, take a load off and relax because you’re in good company.

With that preamble out of the way, we can now get to all the juicy good stuff — the meat and potatoes if you will. What follows are the prospective top six sleeper waiver wire pickups for Week 6 of the NFL season.
