Christian McCaffrey: Superhero

To anyone saying superheroes aren’t real, I would like to present Christian McCaffrey. “Run CMC” isn’t just a Swiss Army Knife; he is a full-fledged tool shed. I could go on and on comparing McCaffrey to something that does everything, but I don’t have that kind of time.

What I do have time for, and you should too, is to realize just how amazing McCaffrey has been this season:

  • Leader in yards from scrimmage by 124 yards (866)
  • Leader in rushing yards
  • Second among running backs in receptions and receiving yards
  • Broke single-game franchise record for yards from scrimmage (237)
  • 148 more yards than the New York Jets
  • On pace for 2,771 yards from scrimmage, 262 more than Chris Johnson’s record in 2009
  • First player since Jim Brown in 1963 with at least 175 yards from scrimmage in four of the first five games
  • This high-flying touchdown:

Aside from staying healthy, what else does McCaffrey need to do to rewrite NFL history? His nickname may be “Run CMC” but McCaffrey has shown he can be an elite receiver, too. He’ll also throw the ball now and then.

The crazy part about McCaffrey’s historic stats is that he only had 56 total yards in Week 2. The last running back to win MVP was Adrian Peterson in 2012, though it’s hard to imagine McCaffrey not making a strong push for the award if he keeps this up.
