Seattle Seahawks: 3 Bold predictions vs. Browns, Week 6
By Samuel Teets
Coming off of a major divisional win in Week 5, the Seattle Seahawks are looking to continue building their resume in Week 6 against the Cleveland Browns.
The Seattle Seahawks must feel good about themselves this week after beating the Los Angeles Rams 30-29 on Thursday Night Football. The Rams won the NFC West last season, beating Seattle twice along the way, and went on to lose in the Super Bowl.
The Seahawks have come out strong in 2019. The run game, which did have some issues in the opening weeks, is back to full strength. Even without Doug Baldwin, the passing game has been the best it has ever been under Russell Wilson.
The defense is still mediocre. Pete Carroll and the front office haven’t built it back up since the fall of the Legion of Boom. However, Jarran Reed will return in Week 7. He and Jadeveon Clowney will prove a formidable duo up front for the Seahawks. While Reed’s return will add a boost, the whole team is still looking to improve as well and capitalize on a convincing 4-1 start.
Under ordinary circumstances, Thursday’s win would put the Seahawks in first place in the NFC West. However, the San Francisco 49ers have improbably started the year 4-0. Their latest win came on Monday Night Football against Seattle’s Week 6 opponents, the Cleveland Browns.
The 49ers stomped the Browns, scoring 31 points and only allowing a field goal. Now, San Francisco will travel to Los Angeles and face the Rams in Week 6. With the Rams sitting at 3-2, Sean McVay’s squad is starving for a win. Wins by Los Angeles and Seattle in Week 6 would put the Seahawks atop the division.
While the outcome of the upcoming 49ers-Rams game is up in the air, I’m confident that the Seahawks will be able to take care of business against the Browns. Cleveland has fallen back on old habits this season, showing none of the promise they did at the end of last season. As long as the Seahawks don’t play down to Cleveland’s level, Seattle should run away with the game.
