Fantasy Football 2019: Start or sit for Week 6
Tough decisions await fantasy football owners in Week 6 but these are the players you should be starting and should be sitting in your lineup.
One of the staples of each work for a fantasy football owner in a given week is making tough decisions. Do you play the workhorse that you drafted high if he’s in a bad matchup? What about the backup who’s getting an opportunity due to injury and could have a breakout game? These are the types of decisions that every owner mulls over on a weekly basis.
That’s where we’re coming into help. As we head into Week 6 and you look to make some headway in your fantasy football standings, some of those decisions are going to be made for you. This is start or sit for Week 6.
Let’s start with the quarterbacks. (Note: All scoring is via ESPN Fantasy.)
Quarterbacks
Start: Kyler Murray, ARI (vs. ATL)
Murray had his best fantasy outing to date in Week 5, putting up 253 passing yards, no passing touchdowns and no turnovers but also added10 carries for 93 yards and a touchdown, totaling 25.4 fantasy points. While it was against arguably the worst team in the league, the Cincinnati Bengals, Murray owners should be ecstatic with the way he has been trending the last couple of weeks.
Now the rookie is going up against a Falcons defense who just gave up 53 points to the Texans and allowed Deshaun Watson to put up the best fantasy outing of his young career (41.7 fantasy points). I’d feel confident starting Murray this week and any of the Arizona wide receivers too, especially since David Johnson is banged up.
Sit: Daniel Jones, NYG (vs. NE)
Jones has been a great streaming option since making his NFL debut but has been struggling to produce at a QB1 level. In Week 5, he struggled again against a stingy Vikings defense where he tallied 10.5 fantasy points with 182 passing yards, one touchdown and one interception. The Vikings also kept him in check in the running department too holding him to three carries for just 12 yards.
The Giants offense hasn’t been the same since the injury to Saquon Barkley and this week will be no different. The Patriots defense is on a historic fantasy run so far in 2019, averaging an insane 18.8 points per game and having 41 more total points than the next closest defense, only allowing three touchdowns so far this season and a total of 22 points to opposing offenses.
With a third-string running back starting due to Wayne Gallman’s concussion, in addition to no Sterling Shepard or Evan Engram, I want no part of Daniel Jones or the Giants offense. Put Jones on your bench this week.
Some streaming options to fill in are: Gardner Minshew II, JAX (vs. NO), Josh Allen, BUF (vs. MIA), Kirk Cousins, MIN (vs. PHI).
