5. Cobb gets back on track

Needing to replace Cole Beasley, who left for the Buffalo Bills in the offseason, Dallas landed former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Randall Cobb on a one-year deal. Cobb filled a huge need as they were without a slot receiver but is also more explosive than Beasley was for them.

He showed that in Week 1 as he hauled in four passes for 69 yards and a touchdown. Since then, he’s continued to provide a solid route-runner in the middle of the field but hasn’t had a breakout game yet — although he did have a 74-yard touchdown overturned in Week 3 against the Miami Dolphins.

In all, Cobb has 17 receptions for 210 yards and his one touchdown. While that’s nothing to be ashamed of, he is coming off one of his worst games of the season. Cobb did have 53 yards on three receptions, but it was the plays he didn’t make that stand out.

Cobb had a couple of drops, something that plagued him in Week 4 as he had a crucial drop on third down in the fourth quarter against New Orleans that hurt their chances at pulling off the win.

Don’t expect that to continue and their game against the Jets is the perfect time for No. 18 to get back on track. With the receiving corps fully healthy in Dallas now that Michael Gallup is back, Cobb should have no problem playing the way we saw in Week 1 as he helps get the passing game rolling.
