3. Richard LeCounte III, S, Georgia

Things weren’t looking all that great for the No. 3 prospect on the list; he struggled to make the impact plays he’s made so often last season against South Carolina. However, last week in a 43-14 blowout against Tennessee, Richard LeCounte III made his first interception of the season. Unfortunately, he didn’t make enough plays to help them against South Carolina. LeCounte finished the game with one tackle and zero pass defenses.

Nevertheless, there’s a lot to like about LeCounte, he’s a physical player who plays with controlled recklessness. He’s tenacious and flies to the ball with an aggressive approach in run support.

While he excels as a downhill box player, he’s not limited to playing near the line of scrimmage. According to Jordan Reid of the The Draft Network, LeCounte does his best work in zone coverage despite being the “enforcer.”

"“Trusts his eyes! [Crabbs] appreciate watching him operate in zone coverage and shade into targets he can anticipate…. able to step forward and provide a presence on the boundary of the defense… he’s typically effective in hitting marks and executing team defense.”"

The issue with LeCounte is he’s thin-framed for a physical player at 5-11, 190 pounds. He’s scheme-specific because he doesn’t line up in the slot or play man coverage often enough. Teams that play two high safeties (Cover 2 and 3) will love a player like LeCounte. Not a top 100 prospect but a leader and tone-setter that could become a steal of a team.
