2020 NFL Draft: 7 Intriguing prospects from college football Week 7
1. Yetur Gross-Matos, EDGE, Penn State
Iowa’s A.J. Epenesa is freak but so is the edge rusher starring for their opponent in Week 7. Penn State has a monster on the edge in Yetur Gross-Matos. The junior came into the season with 20 tackles for loss and eight sacks. So far, the 6-5, 265-pound Gross-Matos has put on a clinic and continues to rise up the 2020 NFL Draft board.
Before facing Iowa, Gross-Matos dominated Purdue with two sacks. Although he didn’t have a sack in the game against Iowa, his presence was felt. He finished the game with five tackles. In five games, he has five sacks and seven tackles for loss.
Gross-Matos will likely hear his name called in the first round, ranking inside the top 30 on Matt Miller’s latest big board for Bleacher Report. Gross-Matos is an elite athlete who plays relentlessly off the edge. He’s great in backside pursuit and eats up ground quickly.
Thanks to his long arms and strength at the point he’s great at sealing the edge. Versatility is part of his game since he’s played with his hand in the dirt and standing up. Plus, he can rush from the three-technique in addition to his natural position on the edge.
The knock on him is his lack of variety when using counter moves, so he’s not a top 20 prospect on some lists. He has a lean build and can, at times fall victim in the power game. Nevertheless, he has all the tools and will likely hear his name called inside the top 15.
