Stud: Devonta Freeman
Devonta Freeman did a little bit of everything both in the running game on the ground and through the air within the passing game for Atlanta. On the ground and in the running attack, Freeman finished with a team-high 88 yards rushing on 19 carries, averaging 4.6 yards per attempt and grabbing a game-long run of 15 yards.
Through the air alongside the star-studded wide receiving group that the Falcons contain, Freeman finished with three catches for 30 yards and two touchdowns in the loss.
Freeman having an impact on the game like he did on Sunday against the Cardinals is key for the Falcons in continuing to try and right the ship moving forward in the regular season. Look for Atlanta to continue to utilize him both on the ground and through the air from this point on.
Dud: Losing streak extended
The final dud and probably the most obvious disappointing aspect to the Atlanta Falcons losing on Sunday in Week 6 of the regular season was that the Falcons weren’t able to end their early-season losing streak against an opponent they should have beaten on the road.
As mentioned earlier, Atlanta’s loss to Arizona bumps them to a disappointing 1-5 on the season and now extends its losing streak to four games in a row with two tough opponents on the schedule ahead of the Falcons prior to their bye week in Week 9.
By the time the bye week comes around in a few weeks for Atlanta, it could quite possibly be facing a six-game losing streak while riding a 1-7 record through eight weeks of action. Atlanta needing to win the Week 6 game against Arizona on Sunday evening, but the Falcons blew the opportunity and saw their losing streak extend with the loss away from home.
