Stud: Tavon Austin, Cedrick Wilson

With Randall Cobb out, the Cowboys leaned more heavily on Tavon Austin. They also had to put Cedrick Wilson into a more prominent role when Amari Cooper was lost to an injury early in the game.

Both players stepped up in their absence. Austin was the top receiver, pulling in five receptions for 64 yards — with a long of 23. As for Wilson, he had 46 yards, also on five receptions. Each of those players had just one target come their way that they didn’t pull in, which is a testament to their preparation as they did what was asked of them.

Dud: Michael Gallup

While both Tavon Austin and Cedric Wilson played well in this one, Michael Gallup failed to step up and deliver when Cooper went down. The team’s deep threat this season, Gallup came in off a seven reception, 113-yard, and one touchdown game in Week 5. It was his first action since Week 2 following a knee injury and gave the team hopes that he could continue to make big plays for them.

That didn’t happen as he caught just four of seven targets for 48 yards while also dropping a couple of passes. It was an off game for him after such a strong start to his second season.
