Before the Minnesota Vikings take on the Detroit Lions in a divisional showdown in Week 7, here are three players that must step up and shine for Minnesota.

Entering Week 7 of the 2019 NFL season, the Minnesota Vikings will be faced with yet another tough on the road with the midway point in the year quickly approaching. On Sunday afternoon in Detroit, the Vikings will hit the road for an important divisional matchup against the Lions at Ford Field.

The game will feature two teams that are still very much in the thick of things within the stacked NFC North this season. Both sides enter this matchup trying to catch up to the first-place Green Bay Packers atop the standings.

Minnesota comes into the game in Week 7 against Detroit riding high off of two straight wins against a pair of NFC opponents in the New York Giants and the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Vikings are coming off of a 38-20 victory over the Eagles last weekend in Minneapolis, grabbing their fourth win of the 2019 campaign while improving to a perfect 3-0 at home at US Bank Stadium this season.

The victory over Philadelphia pushed Minnesota to 4-2 overall on the season heading into the seventh week of games this season. The Vikings come into the fresh week of action sitting in second place in the NFC North standings, trailing the Packers (5-1) atop the division while lined up ahead of the Chicago Bears (3-2) in third place in the division.

Lined up on the other side of the field, Detroit comes into the game after falling to Green Bay on Monday Night Football in Week 6, losing to the Packers on their home field, 23-22, on the national stage.

With the loss, the Lions dropped to 2-2-1 overall on the year, sitting in last place in the NFC North behind the Packers, Vikings and Bears. Detroit is still very much in the running for making a jump in the division standings within a division that is already one of the best in the NFL this season.

Minnesota has struggled on the road this season, holding a 1-2 record away from Minneapolis entering the Week 7 slate. Detroit, which is 1-1 at home this year, will have a shorter week of preparation after its Monday night contest in Green Bay and will look to jump out of the fourth and final spot in the division with one of its rivals coming to town.

Before the Vikings travel to take on the Lions at Ford Field on Sunday afternoon in Week 7, let’s look ahead at three key players for Minnesota that will have to step up once again and shine in order for the Vikings to grab their third straight win and keep pace with Green Bay in the division standings.
