14. Titans held to single digits for fourth time in five games

Let the record show that Marcus Mariota deserves some benefit of the doubt for the struggles surrounding the Tennessee Titans on offense since it’s not the quarterback’s fault the team hasn’t exactly put him in the best position possible to succeed.

Take a look at the poor protection that Mariota (sacked three times) and Ryan Tannehill (sacked four times) received last weekend in a loss to the Denver Broncos, making it clear the issues are more than just the quarterback under center.

With another tough matchup scheduled for Week 7 against the Los Angeles Chargers, this seems like a situation in which it doesn’t matter if Mariota or Tannehill is the starter, because the Titans are going to struggle either way on offense.

Plenty of frustrating factors stand out for Tennessee when looking at how this team has lost four of their last five games, but the one that ranks near the top of the list is how the Titans have been held to single-digit scoring three times since Week 3.

Since nothing has really changed for Tennessee since Sunday’s loss to the Broncos, don’t be surprised if that number increases to four times when taking on the Chargers since the offense seems like they will be in for another rough outing.
