2. Falcons defense will be faced with a big test

Atlanta’s defense will be up against a huge test in Week 7. That’s not saying that Atlanta is facing its toughest opposition in terms of offensive abilities. That likely belongs to the Houston Texans when the Falcons fell to them earlier in the year following a high-scoring contest. But rather the Falcons defense will have more pressure on their shoulders to try and finally hold an opposing offense in check on Sunday.

Against Los Angeles at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta will likely be faced with a matchup that will ultimately come down to defense and which team will be able to slow down the offensive unit on the other side of the line of scrimmage.

So far this season through six games, the Falcons defense hasn’t really shown the ability to hold opposing teams in check on offense, which spells trouble for Atlanta on Sunday in front of its home crowd.

Entering Week 7 against the Rams, Atlanta is allowing teams to average a total of 388.8 yards per game, which ranks seventh-worst in the NFL. Opponents have also been able to average 31 points per game against the Falcons this season, which ranks second-worst in the league behind only the Miami Dolphins who are allowing teams to score 36 points per contest.

On Sunday in Atlanta, the Falcons defense will be faced with one of their biggest tests of the season in terms of trying to actually hold an opponent in check on offense, which would in return allow the Atlanta offense to maybe even operate with a lead and in the end come away with a victory at the end of the game.
