Kansas City Chiefs vs. Denver Broncos: 5 Bold predictions for Week 7
4. Lindsay posts season-best 150 rushing yards
While the Kansas City pass defense is absolutely nothing to write home about, it’s been miles better than a run defense that has been gashed time and again to this point in the season. Through their first six games of the year, the Chiefs are giving up 161.8 yards per game, which has shown in their inability to control the clock and, subsequently, the game.
That does not bode well for the Chiefs as they face the Denver Broncos and running back Phillip Lindsay. The 2018 undrafted free agent signing who broke onto the scene has quietly been putting together another nice campaign. Lindsay has rushed for 397 yards on 84 carries with four touchdowns while also catching 19 balls for 147 yards. He’ll add to that total in a big way on Thursday.
What the Colts and Texans showed against the Chiefs in the past two weeks is that the most effective way to slow them down is to not let them have the ball. While that may seem simple, it’s achieved by running the football consistently to help maintain possession. The Broncos almost certainly know this and will try to deploy the same strategy by giving Lindsay a ton of work.
Matched up against this porous Kansas City run defense, Lindsay will deliver the goods that Denver needs him too. He should carry the ball at least 20 times in Week 7 and will take those touches for at least 150 yards on the ground. Put simply, the second-year back will do his part in knocking off the Chiefs.
