Entering Week 7 of the 2019 NFL season, some teams have done nothing but cause disappointment. These are the biggest letdowns to this point.

Through nearly six weeks of the 2019 NFL season and nearing the halfway point, fans of all 32 teams pretty much know what’s in store for the rest of the year. Meaning, if your a New England Patriots fan, you feel pretty good. If you’re in Miami, your next feel-good day is the opening night of the 2020 NFL Draft.

However, if you’re a fan in one of the five cities I’m about to mention, you’re likely staring into the abyss, wondering what you did to deserve this type of disappointment and NFL despair in your life.

Hey, it happens. Every year, there are more than a few teams who looked to be absolute locks entering the coming season. Teams who were on the brink of something big, perhaps a legitimate playoff push, a Super Bowl appearance or even lifting the Lombardi Trophy. Your team had the pedigree, the coach, the quarterback and all the pieces. Then, midway through the season, your team is a smoldering dumpster fire. As I said, it happens.

2019 has a few of those teams, hose who had high hopes from their fan base and high expectations from those in sports media. So with that, here are five teams who have provided a major letdown to start the 2019 NFL season.

5. Los Angeles Rams

This one should not be such a surprise, but the cracks in the facade that is the Los Angeles Rams began to show last December. For those who don’t recall what happened, running back Todd Gurley began the show what fans in LA now know. That 2-3 record at the end of last year was the first indication that things might be changing, and they have, but not for the better.

The Rams enter Week 7 three-up and three-down. They are also 0-2 in the NFC West behind a surprise in the 5-0 San Francisco 49ers and not so surprising 5-1 Seattle Seahawks.

Los Angeles became predictable. Which is to say, if Gurley isn’t the focal point of the offense, quarterback Jared Goff might have to throw the ball 50-plus times to give the Rams a chance. Against Tampa Bay, Goff attempted 68 passes in a 55-40 loss at the Coliseum. Without Gurley against the 49ers, the offense did little to nothing with LA putting up an anemic 157 yards of offense.

After two seasons where it appeared head coach Sean McVay has captured lightning in a bottle, teams look to have figured the Rams out. They are also saddled with contracts that make little sense. In an NFC West that appears to be a three-horse race, it’s now Los Angeles who is the team looking up at the leaders.
