Fantasy Football: Patrick Mahomes replacements to stream
Patrick Mahomes is set to miss a minimum of three weeks so where should fantasy football owners look to replace one of the cornerstones of their roster?
Losing Patrick Mahomes to a dislocated kneecap on Thursday night is a huge blow to the Kansas City Chiefs. Though an MRI came back with positive results, per Ian Rapoport and James Palmer of NFL Network, and he could be back after three weeks, the Chiefs are now playing without the reigning NFL MVP at quarterback. And fantasy football owners must go on without Mahomes also.
Even playing through an ankle injury and struggling (by his standards) in recent weeks, Mahomes has at least 18 fantasy points in every game this season, including 27 or more points in each of the first three weeks. Though there is parity at quarterback in fantasy football, Mahomes is an outlier in how dominant he can be from the position.
Saying that any single waiver-wire pickup in fantasy football is going to cure an owner’s problems with Patrick Mahomes out is silly. No one available in leagues is going to be able to do that. The better option, though, is to try and stream quarterbacks with good matchups over the next three weeks at minimum.
With that in mind, we’re going to look at the best streaming options for the next three weeks that we know the Chiefs quarterback will miss to try and help piece together a Patrick Mahomes replacement in fantasy football.

Notable Exception: Moore, KC
Before we get into the streaming options, though, Matt Moore might be a better replacement option than you think if streaming quarterbacks isn’t necessarily an option for you as an owner. Moore put up only 8.6 points in relief of Mahomes against Denver. However, he’s in a Kansas City offense that’s friendly to a backup quarterback succeeding.
Put simply, Moore has players around him that can make him productive in fantasy football. He clearly doesn’t have starting quarterback talent but when Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce and a host of running backs can take a short pass to the house, Moore can potentially put together respectable outings. It’s not without risk to put fantasy quarterback value in the hands of others but it is an option.
