The Dallas Cowboys made a huge trade to salvage their season in 2018 and could look to do the same ahead of the 2019 trade deadline with one of these five players.

This season started out feeling as though it was completely different for the Dallas Cowboys than the slow start they had in 2018. However, that feeling is gone following three-straight losses which moved their record to 3-3. Now, they head into Week 7 hoping for a big win on Sunday Night Football against the Philadelphia Eagles.

A victory would keep them in first place in the NFC East and could potentially save a season that’s starting to spiral out of control. That must-win feeling brings up painful memories from a season ago, which saw the Cowboys make a big trade following their Week 7 loss to the Washington Redskins.

After that defeat, they landed wide receiver Amari Cooper, who transformed the entire offense and helped them win their division. With them once again trying to find a way to stack some wins together, Dallas could head back to the trade market and look for some help.

Here, we look at five players they could target as the 2019 NFL Trade Deadline, which is Oct. 29, approaches.

Notable Omission

The past couple of seasons have seen the Cowboys really struggle with injuries along the offensive line. They were without Travis Frederick for all of the 2018 season and so far in 2019, they’ve had problems with both tackles — Tyron Smith and La’el Collins — missing games and Zack Martin has also been banged up. They have had some good play from Joe Looney and Xavier Su’a-Filo and have also been surprised by Brandon Knight at tackle, but they could be better.

One player that could help would be Denver Broncos guard Ron Leary. The name should sound familiar considering Leary was originally an undrafted find for the Cowboys back in 2012. He ended up joining Denver on a four-year $36 million deal in 2017 but his play has dropped off dramatically this season.

That could lead to Denver parting ways with him and Dallas could be interested should the price be right and if Leary would re-negotiate his deal. Not only would it bring him home but he would be a great backup should the Cowboys need interior help again this year.
