3. Carr outplays Rodgers

Wait, what? In Week 7, Derek Carr will be statistically better than Aaron Rodgers. On Sunday, Carr has the kind of day that lands him in the company often held concerning MVP candidates.

First off, you can throw the ball on the Packers defense. Even Kirk Cousins threw for 230 yards. That said, Carr has been consistent in that area. In his last three games, he’s thrown for 242 against Minnesota, 189 against the Colts and 229 against the Bears. In three of five games, Carr has trended up.

Against the Packers, he takes that next step. With a ground game featuring Josh Jacobs, Gruden has the chance to dial up an offensive game plan that softens up the Green Bay defense, thus allowing some substantial passing numbers for Carr.

Week 7 in Green Bay can really serve as a kind of “coming out party”. He’s been a quarterback steadily getting it done in Oakland for a coach who was rumored to be interested in anyone but Derek Carr last year. This year, he’s the guy who has a very good opportunity to lead the Raiders back to a place beyond respectability.
