The Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles meet in a must-win scenario for both NFC East rivals on Sunday Night Football. Bold predictions for the matchup.

Everyone expected it to be a battle between the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles atop the NFC East standings in 2019 and that’s the case as they enter a Week 7 matchup on Sunday Night Football. What’s different from expectations, though, is that both the Cowboys and Eagles limp into this matchup with identical 3-3 records and facing a must-win game in primetime.

We’ve seen both good and bad from the Cowboys and Eagles this season. Dak Prescott has looked good at times and quite bad at others. Meanwhile, Carson Wentz has been steady, though he’s not been perfect either. Perhaps more importantly, though, both of these defenses have failed to deliver on more than one occasion through the first six weeks of the season.

To try and get a hold of the NFC East and to get their seasons on track, the Cowboys and Eagles will need to emerge from this rivalry matchup victorious. But how will things play out from AT&T Stadium? Here are five bold predictions for the huge Week 7 contest.

5. Darby shuts down Cooper

As the Dallas Cowboys were getting embarrassed by the Jets last week, star wide receiver Amari Cooper was forced to the sidelines with a thigh and ankle injury. Early in the week, it looked like he might not be able to suit up against the Eagles but he’s going to be on the field, despite a questionable designation heading into the week.

While Cooper has performed well when at less than 100 percent for the Cowboys before, he won’t be able to do that against Philadelphia. Part of that has to do with his health but the other part is the return of Eagles cornerback Ronald Darby to the field.

The Eagles secondary has been a sieve throughout this season and a big reason why has been the absence of their No. 1 corner, Darby. He’s almost surely going to be matched up with Cooper for much of the night, putting the best coverage defender on Dallas’ No. 1 pass-catching weapon.

Make no mistake, Cooper will be heard from but not in a big way. Darby will shut down the banged-up star for most of the night. When it’s all said and done, Cooper will finish with fewer than 50 yards receiving and not be a big factor in any success the Cowboys offense has overall.
