4. Ke’Shawn Vaughn, RB, Vanderbilt

Vanderbilt shocked the college football world Saturday by upsetting Missouri, 21-14. Running back Ke’Shawn Vaughn played a pivotal role in making the upset possible. Vaughn put the Commodores on his back and carried them to victory. He finished the game with 33 touches and 176 total yards. Vaughn carried the ball 29 times for 98 yards and hauled in four receptions for 80 yards.

Vaughn came into the 2019 season as a third-down question mark as a prospect — he’s not that anymore. He’s been flexed out and caught passes from the backfield this season for the Commodores.

Additionally, he’s shown he’s a decisive runner that doesn’t waste any time hitting the hole. Although he’s not the fastest, he has great short-area quickness, good burst and enough speed to break away from defenders.

The 5-10, 215-pound back has solid girth and power to break tackles. Plus, he has one of the most violent Ricky Williams like stiff-arms in college football. He’s ideally suited for zone schemes but not limited to just that.

He’ll have to work on his ability to pass block to fully succeed in the NFL. Also, he’ll need to show he understands that not every play needs to be a home-run. But thanks to his ability to flex out at wide receiver, he has added value as an every-down back.
