29. Washington Redskins (29)

The Washington Redskins had their first game in the post-Jay Gruden era as Bill Callahan was in charge as the interim head coach. His first game was a tough one as the undefeated San Francisco 49ers came to town, and the weather was a complete mess.

With Callahan’s run-first philosophy, it seemed as though the game could favor his team but that wasn’t the case. They did run it well but couldn’t pass it at all and wound up with 50 passing yards (77 yards from Case Keenum and 27 yards lost on sacks).

Even worse, the fans are all but tapped out. According to the Associated Press, the stands were full of 49ers fans screaming for the west coast team.

"“Among those who braved the rain, more than half were 49ers fans — a trend that has haunted the Redskins this season. A “”Let’s go Niners!”” chant broke out in the fourth quarter among those in Jerry Rice, Ronnie Lott and other jerseys from the organization’s storied past. The Redskins had alumni in town for their annual “”Homecoming Weekend,”” but lost their eighth in a row at FedEx Field.” — Associated Press, via ESPN"

It’s been a while since the Redskins were taken seriously as contenders and it’s apparent this season isn’t the one where things get turned around. At 1-6, it’s probably time to bring in rookie Dwayne Haskins and at least start to get him developing some under center.
