3. Brandon Scherff, OG, Washington Redskins

Outside of Duane Brown at left tackle, the entire Seahawks offensive line is replaceable. None of the other four starters are standout players and most of them aren’t even in the top half of the league when it comes to positional rankings. They are nothing more than the most recent pieces of an elaborate puzzle constructed by Seattle.

On the other hand, Brandon Scherff is a proven talent. The five-year veteran went to Pro Bowls in 2016 and 2017. Since then though, he’s been dealing with injuries. The guard missed eight games in 2018 and has already missed two games this season.

The biggest question for the Seahawks is whether it’s worth trading for a guard in the final year of his rookie contract. Contract situations play a big role in this potential trade. Guard, Mike Iupati is only under contract for this season, so his spot will be open next year. D.J. Fluker, the other guard, is under contract for this year and the 2020 season.

Even with Iupati hitting free agency this coming summer, trading for Scherff only fits the team’s motives if they can ink him to a long-term deal. With Reed entering the final year of his rookie deal, it doesn’t seem like the money will be there to make it happen. Still, Scherff would be a massive upgrade and Seattle should at least entertain asking Washington about him.
