Chicago Bears: 5 Quarterback trade options to save season
Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers
This one may be controversial but stick with me.
Cam Newton was a superstar with the Carolina Panthers. He was among the favorites for MVP last season up until his injury. The Panthers medical staff should be sued for malpractice for continuing to put Newton out there when everyone saw that he was not healthy. It wasn’t until he kept regressing and the Panthers finally got eliminated from playoff contention before they sat him down.
Newton suffered a foot injury, a Lisfranc fracture to be specific. He missed the Panthers’ last four games. With Kyle Allen as his replacement, they’ve won all of them. Now there is a feeling that Allen may be the choice going forward. If they do that, Newton isn’t going to stay.
If Newton is over his injury, he’d be a great addition. He’ll have the weapons with the Chicago Bears that he never really had in Carolina. He’ll run a little, but nowhere near the number of rushes he had with the Panthers. The Panthers figured with his big body and great strength he could take hits. They just kept going with it until now the injuries started. It’s now time for him to reduce the number of carries and concentrate on completing passes to the talented receivers he’d have with the Bears.
Newton has a hefty price tag in 2020. He is due over $21 million. He is a former All-Pro and MVP, however. If he is indeed over his injury he could get back to being the great player he was before.
