NFL Week 7 saw Patrick Mahomes succumb to injury, a number of big trades and a re-definition of the GOAT. The NFL Notebook breaks it all down and more.

“I have a feeling the trade winds will pick up ahead of the Oct. 29 trade deadline.” Well, they have. In fact, I think a tropical storm warning was just issued. Since I said that last week, more trades have materialized and caused chaos across the NFL. Player movement is a fun thing, except when you disagree with the move.

Growing up before social media, my dad would wake me up in the morning and give me any sports news I missed. It was a high point of elementary school. I vividly remember my dad coming in and informing me that Jason Taylor was traded to the Redskins.

While I don’t remember my reaction, it goes to show how impactful a trade can be. As the NFL Trade Deadline approaches, I know we’ll be talking more about all the moves within the next week.

Last week, I identified as possible trade targets: A.J. Green, Melvin Gordon, Trent Williams, Von Miller, Kenyan Drake, Trumaine Johnson, Leonard Williams, Chris Harris and Emmanuel Sanders. Sanders is already in a new town and there’s no saying who else will be on the move.

Hopefully, front offices can remain dormant until this notebook is published. In the meantime, here is what’s on tab today:

  • The effects of Patrick Mahomes’ injury
  • The Great Quarterback Debate (Starring Aaron Rodgers)
  • The problem that isn’t a problem with instant replay
  • The reason a quarterback wouldn’t go first in the Draft
  • A cool moment in my journalism career
  • Weekly Awards and more…

Let’s get into the NFL Notebook from Week 7, starting with the reigning league MVP going down after a quarterback sneak.
