Weekly Awards
Uniform of the Week: Tennessee Titans
There were no special uniforms this week, which means I have to get technical and assess a team’s traditional uniform. I was tempted to go with the Chargers again, but that’s no fun. Instead, I’ll take their opponent, the Titans.
While not popular with everyone, I adored Tennessee’s light blue-navy blue combo this weekend. The numbers stand out strong with a crisp font and simple outline. The helmet stripe could be reversed, yet I still enjoyed watching the Titans play in these modern, sleek threads.
Hands of the Week: Eric Ebron
This is as sexy of a catch as you’ll see all season. Ebron managed to snag the ball over his shoulder with one hand. Meanwhile, Ebron kept his concentration and stayed in bounds while still only using one arm to control the ball. It’s a thing of beauty.

Conspiracy Award: The Madden Curse
It looks like the Madden Curse has claimed another victim in Patrick Mahomes. In case you didn’t know, that’s the theory that the player who gets on the cover experiences a down season, either in the form of an injury, poor performance or something else entirely. (I added that last part because Madden 19’s cover athlete was Antonio Brown…)
Highway Robbery Award: Houston Texans
I’m not entirely sure why this play was called dead, and I can bet Watson wasn’t too thrilled about it either. Considering Houston lost by just seven, you could say that the officials literally stole the Texans’ victory from them. I’m irate just watching this again.
Unsung Hero Award: Brett Maher
Not only did Maher become the first kicker ever to make field goals from 62 yards or more, but his 63-yarder to end the half on Sunday night would have been good from 66 yards out, according to SNF. Sounds like Maher will be kicking in the league for a long, long time.

Award of Gratitude: Peter King
It’s not really a football thing, but this is still pretty cool. King, one of the most renowned columnists in the country, took the time to respond to my email to him. I told him how I started my column over two years ago because of his weekly column and he gave some great advice while taking me through how he writes his column. For someone as busy as he is, I really appreciated his gesture and his advice. Such a class act.
Articles of the Week
You’ll see in a moment just how much I love trades. With the Trade Deadline approaching next week, Samuel Teets laid out which teams could be wheeling and dealing.
Still not buying what I said about Aaron Rodgers? Listen to Joe Kipp.
I didn’t touch on it yet, so see what Cody Williams thought about the Gareon Conley trade.
