1. Bridgewater gets the start over Brees

The last prediction is one that most people probably won’t agree with. However, there is a reason why it made my list. Heading into Week 8, I predict that Teddy Bridgewater will get the start over Drew Brees.

Of course, there is a huge case for Drew Brees starting but there is a multitude of reasons why he shouldn’t either. Regardless, it seems like Bridgewater is going to be a better fit for Week 8.

The main reason that Bridgewater gets the start over Brees is that he might need a little bit of time to recover. While he’s been out for over six weeks, there’s no reason to try to push him to come back. If anything, the Saints should let him sit out another week as the Saints have a bye in Week 9. Two more weeks of rest might be exactly what Brees needs to be fully healed and Bridgewater has shown that he can hold down the fort.

Even if Brees does the start over Bridgewater, it might be a limited affair. Either way, picking Bridgewater over Brees might be the key to winning. Last week, Bridgewater put up decent number against Chicago with two touchdowns, almost 300 passing yards and ultimately helped the Saints win their fifth straight. Brees is no doubt the better pick but Bridgewater has earned his backup spot and it’s only right that he starts one last game before Brees returns

It’s going to come down to a last-minute decision. However, with an older quarterback coming back from injury, the best option for the Saints is to let Bridgewater have one more go of it, setting the team up for their playoff push.
