7. Andy Dalton, Cincinnati Bengals

At 0-7, the Bengals are done, and so is Andy Dalton in Cincinnati. The veteran from TCU has been a workhorse since being drafted in 2011, but has yet to win a playoff game. And in 2019, he has yet to win a game in the regular season. He is, by every definition, ready for a change of scenery.

First-year head coach Zac Taylor is in a no-win situation, literally, in Cincinnati. With a veteran like Dalton, who has a franchise-friendly contract, dealing him seems like the logical thing to do.

That said, we are talking about the Bengals. Cincinnati has a proven track record of missed opportunities and holding on too long. Marvin Lewis should have been gone long ago, but he hung around long enough to see the franchise nose dive in both the AFC North and the league as a whole.

Dalton isn’t done by NFL standards. In the right situation, which Cincinnati isn’t, he still has something to offer the right team. He can win, again with all the right variables.

The Bengals are in a prime position to move on at the NFL Trade Deadline. Breaking ties with a player like Dalton is smart business. Then again, Cincinnati and “smart business” aren’t words that are often used in the same sentence. That said, Dalton could certainly use a new zip code.
