3. Rashaad Penny, Seattle Seahawks

Rashaad Penny was a reach when the Seattle Seahawks drafted him in the first round in 2018 out of San Diego State. Now, seven games into the 2019 season, that pick is looking to be an absolute bust.

Simply stated, it hasn’t and isn’t going to work out for Penny in Seattle. Chris Carson, who rushed for 65 yards on 21 carries in Week 7, was also in the offense for 64 of the Seahawks 72 plays. As for Penny, well, he was on the field for a grand total of two snaps of the football. He wasn’t targeted once nor did he carry the football.

If his time isn’t up in Seattle, it should be. Bust or not, in a league where running backs are more interchangeable than ever, Penny is employable elsewhere and should want to be. He’s on a team with one of the top three quarterbacks in the NFL and another back is more in the game plan than he is. That is, by-in-large, a professional death sentence.

Whatever your opinion, Penny needs to move on to whatever greener pastures exist. Seattle didn’t work despite the lofty draft status, and he’s already the more likely backup than starter. Being on the field for only two snaps says it all. Moving on should be what happens next.
