1. Karl Joseph, S — Oakland Raiders

Ever since Jon Gruden returned to coach the Oakland Raiders last season, the name Karl Joseph keeps getting thrown around in trade rumors. A former first-round pick from West Virginia, Joseph for some reason doesn’t seem to be a player Gruden wants to keep long-term. Then again, maybe it’s just all the players who were there prior to his hiring that he wants to ship off.

Gruden already traded edge rusher Khalil Mack to the Chicago Bears and recently sent cornerback Gareon Conley to the Houston Texans — and six days later he helped Houston defeat Oakland which made their record 3-4 on the year. Those weren’t the only first-round picks Gruden shipped off as he gave Dallas a player by the name of Amari Cooper who has been on fire since coming to America’s Team.

With all that being said, it wouldn’t be a shock at all to see him move on from Joseph next, especially considering they declined to pick up the fifth-year option on his contract. Even with the coaching staff seemingly out on Joseph’s future with the Raiders, he’s been a good player for them.

In four seasons, he’s started 39 of 47 games and 222 tackles — including 36 this season. He’s also broken up 13 passes and has three career picks. A sure-tackler, Joseph would be an upgrade over their current starting safety Jeff Heath. Not only that, but pairing him with Xavier Woods could finally give them some youth and stability at a position that’s been a problem for far too long.
