Stud: Melvin Ingram

After missing three games due to a hamstring injury, Melvin Ingram returned to action and, although it was by no means a spectacular showing, his return truly made the Chargers’ defense seem more whole.

However, what Ingram did to make up for in lack of dominant play was showcase his intelligence, displaying great awareness of the ball and putting himself into a position to recover the ball that was fumbled by Trubisky in the fourth quarter.

One of if not the most outspoken leaders of the Chargers defense, his presence brings both energy and swagger to the group, something which the Chargers’ clearly lacked during their three-game losing streak. The strong play is soon to come from Ingram; quarterbacks beware.

Stud: Casey Hayward

The Chargers’ shutdown cornerback was not only lights for the most part of this game, but he was able to pull off a huge interception from Mitchell Trubisky. Reading the play, Hayward placed himself in the same area where tight end Trey Burton was looking to make the catch, jumped in the air and made the grab.

Unfortunately for Hayward, the interception was in vain and the offense failed to score any points even when being near the goal-line. Nonetheless, the interception showed that, despite his age, Hayward still has the athleticism and ability to cover receivers and play the cornerback position.
