NFL Power Rankings, Week 9: 49ers embarrass Panthers, Eagles shock Bills

15. Detroit Lions (18)
After suffering three rough losses in a row, the Detroit Lions were in desperate need of a win at home on Sunday against the New York Giants to avoid digging a deeper hole in the NFC playoff race.
Detroit’s defense ended up struggling against Daniel Jones after allowing the rookie quarterback to finish with four touchdown passes, but at least Matthew Stafford was able to help make up for it by putting together a strong outing on offense for the Lions.
Despite failing to receive the proper support in the backfield after the Lions were forced to adjust to Kerryon Johnson, Stafford still found a way to take advantage of having a strong group of receivers, especially Kenny Golladay.
Stafford always seems to find a way to make the players around him better on offense, and there’s no question that Golladay has fallen into that category over the last few years by appearing to get better with experience.
Just look at Sunday’s win over the Giants in which Golladay hauled in six catches for 123 yards to go along with two trips into the end zone, and it shows the kind of impact the wideout is making each week.
Now that Detroit’s losing streak is over, all eyes will be on whether the Lions can keep the momentum going on the road next weekend against the Oakland Raiders.
