The 2020 NFL Draft gets closer with each passing college football week and these prospects stood out as some of the most intriguing in Week 9.

In any given week of college football, we learn more about the prospects that will be selected eventually in the 2020 NFL Draft. Some of that’s good, some of that’s bad, some come from winning teams and some come away with an L. Such is the case coming out of Week 9 of the 2019 college football season.

Every week, we take a look at a handful of prospects that did something noteworthy to make a name for themselves and garner intrigue as it pertains to the 2020 NFL Draft. That is once again the case coming out of Week 9 as nine prospects caught my eye.

We start with an underclassman quarterback from an SEC school that should be garnering some attention.

9. Kellen Mond, QB, Texas A&M

Texas A&M quarterback Kellen Mond started as a freshman and never looked back. Each season, he’s experienced growth, improving statistically and as an NFL prospect. His completion percentage went from 52 to 57 to him now completing 63.5 percent of his attempts in 2019. Mond is also on pace to pass for a career-high in yards and touchdowns.

What stands out about Mond is his quick release and ability to make jaw-dropping throws. He’s confident in his arm and understandably so, thanks to his above-average power. While he does stand in the pocket, he’s athletic enough to pull the ball down and run. He’s on pace to rush for over 530 yards and eight touchdowns, both career highs.

Mond is a rising prospect who has potential at the next level. He’s not a finished product and could see his stock rise with another year in school. Should Mond come out, he’d make for an excellent backup for a couple of years.

Mond does have the talent to develop into an NFL starter but timing is everything. If he came out, he’d likely be drafted in the fourth or fifth round as of now.
