6. Patrick Jones II, EDGE, Pittsburgh

The Pittsburgh Panthers didn’t get the win as a team against Miami, but edge defender Patrick Jones took home an individual W. Coming into the week, Jones had seven sacks on the season. The 6-5, 260-pound Jones added two sacks and a forced fumble on a season where he’s done nothing but show out.

Jones is on pace for over 10 tackles for loss and 14 sacks. Last season, Jones finished with seven sacks and just over five tackles for loss. He’s much improved as a player, thus he’s a legit NFL prospect. In fact, Jones made The Draft Network’s Joe Marino’s stock up for Week 9, praising his vision, ability to finish and slip offensive tackles.

"“[Jones] knows how to work to the edges of blockers, grease angles and clear contact to finish. His vision to read blockers and attack the pocket most effectively has really shined this season.”"

He’s a defensive end that does everything right. Jones is smooth with solid hands and sets the edge. Jones isn’t on many draft media big boards yet, but his name will start to appear as the season ends.

Jones isn’t maxed out in his frame. His best fit is a 4-3 scheme where he can kick inside on third downs. However, I’m sure the NFL has its sights set on Jones. An early comp is Andre Branch who excels in run defense and is a solid pass rusher. There’s no doubt Jones will hear his name called.
