Defense/Special Teams

The top-priced defense this week, unsurprisingly, is the New England Patriots (at BAL, $4,500). We don’t fault anyone for paying top dollar for the most dominating defense to date this season, nor will we judge anyone for steering clear at this price.

After all, Lamar Jackson is the most dynamic quarterback the Patriots have faced this season by a long shot. He protects the football well, and his ability to create is harder to scheme for than the myriad of turnover-prone and backup signal-callers that the Patriots have feasted on so far this season.

The Buffalo Bills (vs. WAS, $3,800) are licking their chops at the prospect of facing rookie quarterback Dwayne Haskins at home in front of the Bills Mafia faithful. With apologies to the vaunted Patriots unit, the Bills are arguably the biggest slam dunk of the week at this position.

The Dallas Cowboys (at NYG, $3,700) will have their hands full with Saquon Barkley to say the least. However, they should force Daniel Jones into making his share of mistakes under the bright lights of a primetime showdown at the Meadowlands on Monday night.

Speaking of turnovers, the Seattle Seahawks (vs. TB, $2,600) host Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston, who has thrown seven interceptions in his last two games. Enough said.

Finally, the Philadelphia Eagles (vs. CHI, $3,000) host Mitchell Trubisky, who’s fighting for his future as the Bears’ starting quarterback after a string of poor performances. Even if the Bears turn to former Eagle Chase Daniel, we think Philly rolls. The coaching staff is well aware of the backup’s strengths and weaknesses.
