Minnesota Vikings: Studs and duds vs. Chiefs in Week 9
After the Minnesota Vikings fell to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 9, here are three studs and duds from the contest for the Vikings.
The hot streak for the Minnesota Vikings came to a disappointing end on Sunday afternoon in Week 9 of the 2019 NFL season. The Vikings saw their winning streak come to a halt on the road against a tough AFC opponent in the Kansas City Chiefs on the road at Arrowhead Stadium. Minnesota fell in the final seconds, 26-23.
In the game, the two teams had a back-and-forth opening half in Kansas City in a matchup that was offensively-heavy throughout the course of the contest.
In the opening quarter, the two teams were knotted up at 7-7 after two first-quarter touchdowns to kick things off. Before halftime, both teams were able to get into the red zone in the second quarter, only to each end up settling for field goals to bring the game to an even 10-10 at the break in Kansas City.
Both teams once again displayed their offenses in the final two quarters. Right out of the gate in the third quarter, Minnesota tallied a field goal while missing the extra point, only to have that followed up by a lengthy touchdown run from Kansas City and a field goal to end the third with the Chiefs on top, 20-16.
In the final quarter of action, the Vikings managed to tack on seven points, but the Chiefs had the last laugh with a last-second field goal as time expired to pull away with the win.
With the loss, Minnesota’s four-game winning streak came to an end while it dropped to 6-3 overall on the year and allowed Green Bay to extend its lead atop the NFC North standings ahead of Minnesota, the Chicago Bears and the Detroit Lions.
The Vikings will remain on the road next weekend in Week 10 when Minnesota travels to face off against the Dallas Cowboys in Texas on the national stage of Sunday Night Football.
