14. Indianapolis Colts (7)
So far this year, Jacoby Brissett has been playing incredibly well. The Indianapolis Colts had to turn to him following the unexpected retirement of Andrew Luck late in the preseason. Brissett, who filled in for Luck in 2017 when he had shoulder surgery, again stepped up and had the team 5-2 entering Week 9.
Then, he had a bit of bad luck as he was knocked out of their game against the Pittsburgh Steelers after throwing just five passes. Brian Hoyer — another decent backup for them — came in and threw three touchdowns but they still lost by two points to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Head coach Frank Reich spoke on the injury following the game, saying he thinks it’s a sprain for the signal-caller which is good news meaning he won’t be out too long.
"“MCL-ish . . . I think it looks like a sprain but we’ll see to what degree. We have to see how it responds,” Reich said, via Kevin Bowen of 1070 The Fan."
That’s good news as they’re already without T.Y. Hilton. Now at 5-3, they find themselves looking up at the Houston Texans in the AFC South standings. They still have a shot and shouldn’t be counted out but a win here would have really helped.
