5. New England Patriots (1)

Coming into their Week 10 Sunday Night Football meeting with the Baltimore Ravens, the New England Patriots were a top-five defense in every major category. According to NFL.com, they were first in points surrendered with 7.6, first in total yards with 234.0, second in passing yards with 148.8, and fifth (their worst defensive rank) in rushing yards with 85.2 given up per game.

All of those numbers were topped by Baltimore, with the passing yards being the only one that looked respectable for the Pats. Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson threw for 163 yards and a touchdown but he torched the New England defense for two touchdowns on 61 yards rushing.

Mark Ingram also got in on the action with 115 yards as the Ravens finished with 210 rushing yards and put up 37 points — although seven of those came due to a fumble return for a touchdown.

It was a rare off night for the entire New England team as they struggled to finish drives with touchdowns as they had five punts and two field goals in the game. They also had some rare mistakes by star players, such as Julian Edelman who fumbled the ball that was returned for a score.

There’s still no reason to panic but the loss gives credence to those who believe the Pats had it easy during their first eight games. With Philly, Dallas, Houston, and Kansas City on tap, we’re about to see if this year’s team is as good as they were last year when they won it all.
