With Patrick Mahomes missing a couple of games, it has opened things up for other players to get inserted into the 2019 NFL MVP talk. This isn’t to say Mahomes can’t come back, light things up and win the award again, but at least it’s allowing others to take the stage for a while.

One player who is doing that right now is Russell Wilson. The Seattle Seahawks quarterback is having the best season of his entire career and was on fire this weekend.

After falling behind 21-7 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Wilson kicked it into a different gear. Wilson threw four touchdowns in regulation, then led his team down the field for a shot at winning the game. A 53-yard drive ended with a missed 40-yard field goal that sent the game to overtime.

Once in the extra period, Wilson again showed off his skill as he led the Seahawks down the field for a game-winning touchdown pass. He capped off a 10-play, 75-yard drive with a touchdown pass to Jacob Hollister, which improved them to 7-2 on the season as they sit in second place in the NFC West behind the undefeated San Francisco 49ers.

Next week, Seattle heads to San Francisco for a Monday Night Football meeting with the first place Niners. A win there would be huge as they look to find a way to win their division.
