Seattle Seahawks: 3 Bold predictions vs. 49ers, Week 10
By Samuel Teets
1. Seattle wins by two scores
Let’s look at who the 49ers have faced this season. They’ve beaten Tampa Bay, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Los Angeles (Rams), Washington, Carolina, and Arizona. Those teams have a 22-43-1 combined record.
While the 49ers don’t control their schedule and can’t be blamed for facing poor teams, they have yet to face a true test. Their best win is against the Rams, but the Seahawks have also beaten Sean McVay’s team this year. Putting it bluntly, the 49ers have cakewalked to 8-0.
Seattle has faced two notably tougher teams. The New Orleans Saints and Baltimore Ravens both defeated Seattle, but the 49ers haven’t faced that level of competition this season. We don’t know just how good the 49ers are, because they haven’t played a team that is truly in Super Bowl contention.
The Seahawks, with Pete Carroll, Bobby Wagner, and Wilson, are the more experienced team. Their superstars have been on the big stage plenty of times before, while Richard Sherman is one of the few 49ers with significant big-game experience. This will be the biggest game of Garoppolo’s career. We’ll see if he and the 49ers can handle the pressure.
The game will ultimately come down to Seattle’s offense against San Francisco’s defense. While the 49ers will hound Wilson all night, the clutch quarterback will adapt and make big plays for his team. Seattle will hand the 49ers their first loss of the season.
