Chicago Bears: 5 Players who must shine vs. Lions in Week 10
Amid a four-game losing streak, the Chicago Bears need people to step up. Here are five of them who should do it in Week 10.
Well, this isn’t the season we thought the Chicago Bears would have at the halfway point. We expected them to be at or near the top of the standings, both in the division and in the conference, but instead, they are in last place in the NFC North. They are in the midst of a four-game losing streak and with the offense struggling so much it’s difficult to find a win soon (even the New York Giants game looks shaky).
During this losing streak, the Bears blew leads, got blown out, and made good comebacks only to ultimately give up the game. Through it all, however, the offense has struggled mightily except for a few plays in each game.
There is enough blame to go around for this mess. The offensive line isn’t playing as well as it had last season. The running game hasn’t been as good as we expected, and the tight end group hasn’t done anything to help the offense. Additionally, the playcalling at times leaves something to be desired.
The biggest cause of concern that many have is the play of quarterback Mitchell Trubisky. He hasn’t taken the step up that many thought he would. He doesn’t look anything like the second overall pick he was and looks like he’s regressed since last season.
When something goes this horribly wrong there isn’t just one thing. Just like when Jay Cutler was in Chicago, he wasn’t the only reason for the struggles. He was, however, part of the trouble. Certain people discounted that, though, putting more emphasis on other areas. I’m afraid this is happening again with Trubisky. This team needs to get together and get things going again.
Here are five players who could (and should) step up and help stop this free fall. Perhaps a win now can turn things around and bring the positive vibes back.
