Chicago Bears: 5 Players who must shine vs. Lions in Week 10
Mitch Trubisky
Okay, I know what you’re thinking — I’ve probably included Trubisky on every one of my “Must step up” articles. There’s a reason for that — he is the quarterback, the face of the franchise. He needs to be the leader of the offense and lead them to success.
That hasn’t happened this season. Even in his best game, against Washington, the defense helped set up his success. He had trouble in that game as well, throwing an interception in the end zone.
Instead of a confident quarterback who has a great handle on the offense and the ability to read defenses well, Trubisky looks as if he has zero confidence, zero handle of the offense and zero ability to read defenses. His inability to play well frustrates the front office and the fans and has the coaches scratching their heads trying to come up with something to help him succeed.
Yes, Trubisky has been bad this season. He has a chance, however, to turn things around. In addition to being a bad rushing defense, the Lions have a bad pass defense as well. They rank 30th in passing yards allowed, 25th in passing touchdowns allowed, and 27th in interceptions. This is a recipe for a good game. Trubisky needs to step up this week and take advantage of a bad defense. He needs to stop overthinking things and take advantage of the Lions.
