Stud: Josh Jacobs, RB

Josh Jacobs continues to cement his case for NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. The Oakland Raiders first-round rookie was again a workhorse on the night for this offense, continuously making people miss and making plays for positive yardage. He finished the night overall with 16 rushes for 71 yards and a touchdown along with three catches for 30 yards.

Most importantly, it was Jacobs that ultimately got the win for the Raiders. With Oakland driving down by four points at the end of the game, the rookie ball-carrier burst through a nice hole and scampered 18 yards to the end zone for the go-ahead touchdown that turned out to be the game-winner. For good measure, he also iced the Chargers with a run for a first down in the final seconds. It was a veteran-type performance for a budding star.

Dud: Derek Carr, QB

To be sure, Derek Carr was ultimately not bad on Thursday Night Football. The Raiders quarterback, who is in the midst of an underrated season, finished the night going 21-of-31 for 218 yards, one touchdown and no turnovers. That’s fine but it was nothing special and his performance left a lot to be desired in a seemingly favorable matchup.

Carr was not a good downfield passer in Week 10, constantly checking down to shorter throws. In fact, he completed just one pass that went for more than 20 yards on the night, which was a catch-and-run by the aforementioned Waller. Again, being mistake-free is undeniably a positive for Oakland but Carr has to be better getting the ball downfield moving forward than he was against Los Angeles.
