8. Joe Burrow, QB, LSU

Arguably no prospect’s draft stock has skyrocketed like Joe Burrow. Before the start of the season, you would have been hard-pressed to find Burrow’s name as a top-50 prospect. After eight games, Burrow has not only risen up draft boards, but Heisman watch lists as well.

Through eight games, Burrow has LSU as the second-best passing offense in all of college football. They average 362 yards per game through the air. Burrow has proven he’s arguably the most accurate passer in college football, statistically speaking, completing 78.8 percent of his passes. He’s giving his receivers chances to make plays down the field with LSU averaging 9.9 yards per attempt.

In clutch situations, Burrow is money, helping lead the Tigers into the top 10 of third-down conversion rate. The 2019 season has allowed Burrow to display growth, leadership and tenacity in the way he approaches the quarterback position.

Burrow isn’t an elite prospect but he does a lot of things well. No, he doesn’t have an elite arm but he has enough arm strength to make throws on the outside hashes. He can fit passes between tight coverage. Burrow makes great precise throws off play-action as well.

He’s a solid athlete who moves around the pocket well and escape pressure. When he runs he does so with power. He’s not bothered by pressure and keeps his eyes downfield when moving in the pocket. His stock has risen dramatically and a strong finish to 2019 will only solidify his place as QB2 in this class.
