DraftKings NFL Picks, Week 10: Best bargains in DFS play
By Drew DeLuca
Wide Receivers
Odell Beckham Jr. (CLE vs. BUF, $6,100): Signs of life from Beckham, who caught five or more passes for the third straight week, a stretch that saw him square up against Pro Bowl-caliber corners Stephon Gilmore and Chris Harris, who Beckham torched for a would-be touchdown…had Baker Mayfield looked his way. After watching Beckham hold his own against the league’s elites on tape, expect Mayfield to target his playmaker more frequently down the stretch this season, starting this week in another tough matchup.
Golden Tate (NYG at NYJ, $5,900) is a pro’s pro and a reliable outlet for rookie quarterback Daniel Jones: he has averaged nine targets per game over his last four. Due to the expected absences of Evan Engram and Sterling Shepard from the lineup, Tate and emerging rookie Darius Slayton (NYG at NYJ, $4,200) should see even more targets in their favorable matchups against a weak New York Jets secondary.
Zach Pascal (IND vs. MIA, $5,300) is as solid of a mid-tier option as anyone, given his matchup against the Miami Dolphins and the continued absence of T.Y. Hilton. His teammate, slot receiver Chester Rogers (IND vs. MIA, $4,100), stands to see an uptick in playing time and targets for two primary reasons: the sudden loss of Parris Campbell, who broke his hand last week, and the unexpected release of Deon Cain.
Rogers hasn’t exactly capitalized on his opportunities so far in 2019, but he’s a tempting low-risk, high-reward proposition this week, even with backup quarterback Brian Hoyer at the helm.
Christian Kirk (ARI at TB, $5,200) appears to be 100 percent (or close to it) after returning from injury. Look for him to take advantage of one of the worst secondaries in the league: the Buccaneers rank dead last in passing yards allowed per game, and Kirk will likely be the biggest beneficiary of a big day from Kyler Murray.
Jamison Crowder (NYJ vs. NYG, $5,000) and Robbie Anderson (NYJ vs NYG, $4,700) are worthwhile options against a New York Giants defense that is equally as bad statistically as their own brethren on the other side of the ball. Crowder is the high-floor option who won’t let you down; Anderson is the choice for those who prefer to chase upside in search of a jackpot.
I’ve added A.J. Brown (TEN vs. KC, $4,300) in several season-long leagues recently. The sure-handed rookie is ahead of the curve as a route-runner and ranks in the top 10 among NFL wide receivers in yards per target. Now the clear top option in the Titans passing game, he’ll be peppered with even more targets with Corey Davis listed as doubtful and Delanie Walker out. Expect at least one touchdown and a yardage total around the century mark.
Honorable mentions are once again led by Cole Beasley (BUF at CLE, $4,100), who has logged 10 targets or a touchdown in five of his last six games. Beasley has only laid down one true stinker of a game so far this season, and odds are the Browns won’t be the deuce, at least not in this sense.
Andrew Erickson (CIN vs. BAL, $3,900) has quietly become a favorite target in the passing game of late, scoring over ten fantasy points in each of his last three games. Erickson, who followed up an 8-137-0 line with 6-97-0 last week, offers a nice return on pocket change.
Finally, Tre’Quan Smith (NO vs. ATL $3,200) returns to the active roster for the New Orleans Saints. Smith caught all five passes thrown his way before missing a significant stretch of the season with an ankle injury. As he resumes a regular role in the offense this week, he’ll likely outperform his price against a feeble Atlanta Falcons secondary.
