Fantasy Fixture

As the season rolls on, it’s only appropriate that every week I discuss a little about America’s new favorite past-time: Fantasy Football.

At one point, he was considered an MVP candidate last season. Now, Jared Goff has been struggling. Watching the game against Pittsburgh, it was easy to see Goff’s issues.

From a fantasy standpoint, he only produced 3.7 fantasy points (in standard ESPN leagues). Considering his lack of production as a runner, I worry about Goff as a viable option moving forward. His schedule doesn’t do him any favors, either.

  • Week 11: Chicago, ninth-toughest pass defense (per 4for4.com)
  • Week 12: Baltimore, eighth-toughest pass defense
  • Week 15: Dallas, seventh-toughest pass defense
  • Week 16: San Fransisco, second-toughest pass defense

Sure, two games against the second-worst pass defense in Arizona should help Goff. Nonetheless, I’m not using Goff in any fantasy format going forward. Besides, there are more fantasy-friendly options that should be available:

  • Ryan Tannehill – Available in 79.4 percent of ESPN leagues, he has averaged 20.1 points in his four starts. He’s not afraid to rip off runs and he has a juicy schedule in weeks 14-17.
  • Derek Carr – Available in 73.4 percent of ESPN leagues, he faces Cincinnati this week and the Jets the week after. He averages a solid 31.2 pass attempts, too.
  • Kyle Allen – Available in 89.8 percent of ESPN leagues, he faces Atlanta this week and in Week 14, with a matchup against Washington in between. He also averages 33.4 pass attempts.
